Flash floods hit Kampung Kubang Semang in Bukit Mertajam on Oct. 17 and 18, flooding eight houses. Thirty-six people from 10 families moved to a relief centre, national news agency Bernama reported. All had returned home by Oct. 18.
Lian Hwa’s Interact Club is collecting school supplies for the affected families this week.
What is needed
The club is asking for new exercise books, stationery, school bags and water bottles. It will not collect clothing or food.
Donations can be left at the school office from 7.30am to 4pm until Oct. 23.
