Since July, every Junior 1 class has started the week with an hour of silent reading. Students choose their own book, in any language.
The library says Chinese novels, English graphic novels and Malay short story collections are the most borrowed titles among Junior 1 students this term.
"I finished my first whole English book," said Junior 1 student Jason Khoo. "It had pictures, but it still counts."
