Our story

From a kitchen bench to Piper Street

Wildmoon began as soap and candles made for friends. Today it is a small apothecary shop and studio in Kyneton, Victoria.

About Rosalind & Nell

Two makers, one apothecary

Rosalind Hartley and Nell Kostas founded Wildmoon in 2019, after years of swapping soap, tea blends and moon rituals across Rosalind's kitchen table. The first market stall sold out of honey and oat bars by lunchtime; the shop on Piper Street followed in 2023.

Everything we sell is either made in our studio behind the shop or chosen from a short list of suppliers we know by name. We would rather make thirty good candles than three hundred average ones.

Rosalind Hartley

Co-founder, soap and candle maker

Rosalind has followed an earth-based path for most of her life and has made soap since her twenties. She runs the studio, formulates the soaps and candles, and leads the seasonal gatherings in the garden.

Nell Kostas

Co-founder, herbal blends and skincare

Nell studied herbal medicine before turning to skincare formulation. She designs the teas and the Skin & Glow range, grows much of the herb garden, and teaches the tea blending workshop.

Three pillars behind everything we make

Sustainable making

Small batches poured into glass, kraft and tin, refills in the shop, and no plastic in the post. We buy oils and herbs from Australian growers wherever we can.

Spiritual exploration

A safe, welcoming space for witchcraft, pagan and earth-based paths, and for anyone simply curious. No experience or belief required to join a ritual.

Community and learning

Workshops in soap, candles and herbs, a new moon circle each month, and a Journal that explains the why behind what we make.

A bigger apothecary

The studio behind the shop is full. Next year we plan to open the old stables at the back as a second room for refills, local makers and a small herb bar where you can buy loose botanicals by weight.

Sabbat gatherings

We mark most of the eight festivals of the Wheel of the Year in the garden, on southern hemisphere dates. Mabon, the autumn equinox in March, is our biggest. Everyone is welcome, practising or not.

A garden that supplies the studio

About a third of the herbs in our teas and bundles now come from our own beds. The aim is half within three years, with a small retreat space for quiet days and classes.

Rosalind and Nell are joined by Mai, who runs the shop and the parcels; Callum, who pours most of the candles; and Judith, who teaches the soap workshop and has made soap for longer than any of us.
