New bonding looks wonderful on day one. A few small habits keep it that way for years.
The first 48 hours
Go easy on deeply staining foods and drinks — curry, red wine, strong coffee — while the surface fully settles. After a couple of days you can return to normal.
Every day
- Brush twice daily with a soft brush and a non-abrasive toothpaste. Whitening pastes are often too gritty for bonding.
- Rinse with water after coffee, tea or wine. A straw helps for iced drinks.
- Do not use your front teeth as tools — no biting nails, pens or packaging.
If you grind
Wear the night guard we provide. Grinding is the number one cause of chipped bonding, and a guard is far cheaper than a repair.
Every six months
Keep your hygiene visits. A professional polish lifts surface stain, restores the shine, and lets us spot a tiny chip before it grows. Well-cared-for bonding can be re-polished and refreshed rather than replaced — see our Longevity Forecast for what to expect from yours.
