The additive method

We build your smile from your own teeth

Most cosmetic dentistry starts by removing healthy tooth to make room. We start the other way around — by keeping everything you already have and adding only what is missing.

For a full makeover that usually means a simple sequence: straighten with clear aligners so there is less to disguise, whiten so the base shade is bright, then add the smallest amount of bonding or porcelain to finish. Done in that order, most smiles need a fraction of the veneers they would otherwise take.

It is slower to plan and harder to do than a mouthful of veneers. It is also kinder to your teeth, ages better, and looks like you — only rested.

The most beautiful result is the one where nobody can tell anything was done — and your own enamel is still underneath it.

Principal & Cosmetic Dentist · BDS (Bristol) · MFDS RCS(Ed) · BACD Accredited Member

Elena founded Solene in 2016 after a decade restoring smiles across the South West. She trained in Bristol and is an Accredited Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry — a standard held by only a small number of UK dentists. Her whole philosophy is additive: build with tooth-coloured composite and ultra-thin porcelain before ever reaching for a drill. She lectures on freehand bonding and still hand-finishes every anterior case herself.

The most beautiful result is the one where nobody can tell anything was done — and your own enamel is still underneath it.

“I had a gap I had hated since I was a teenager. Elena closed it in one appointment with no drilling and I honestly cried in the car park. It just looks like my own teeth, only better.”

“No hard sell at all — Nadia talked me out of half of what I thought I needed. Whitening and a tiny bit of bonding and I look ten years fresher. Exactly what I wanted.”

★★★★★

“They straightened my teeth first instead of covering them, which meant I needed far less afterwards. It took a few months longer but I still have all my own enamel and I love it.”

Questions, answered

Frequently asked

How much does a smile makeover cost?
It depends entirely on the combination of treatments. After your free consultation you receive an itemised written quote with fixed prices — no estimates that creep up later. As a guide, whitening starts at £320, composite bonding from £195 per tooth, and no-prep veneers from £795 per tooth. 0% finance is available up to 24 months.
Will treatment hurt?
Our most popular treatments — bonding and whitening — involve no drilling and usually no anaesthetic at all, because we are adding to your teeth rather than cutting them. For anything more involved we are gentle, and we look after nervous patients as a speciality.
Do you drill down healthy teeth for veneers?
Not if we can avoid it. Our whole approach is additive: we prefer bonding and no-prep porcelain that preserve your enamel. When conventional veneers are genuinely the best option, we keep preparation as conservative as the case allows and always show you the plan first.
How long will my new smile last?
It depends on the treatment and your habits. Whitening is a top-up treatment; composite bonding typically lasts 4–8 years before a refresh; porcelain often 15 years or more. Our Longevity & Care Forecast gives you an honest, tailored estimate.
I am really nervous about the dentist. Can you help?
Yes — a large number of our patients come to us precisely because they are anxious. Nadia will meet you first with no pressure, we work at your pace, and nothing happens until you are ready. See our page for nervous patients.
Is Solene available on the NHS?
No — Solene is a private cosmetic practice, and cosmetic treatments are not available on the NHS. We are transparent about all our fees and offer interest-free finance to help spread the cost.
