Porcelain veneers are thin shells of layered ceramic bonded to the front of your teeth to change their shape, colour, length and alignment. Done well, they are almost impossible to spot; done badly, they read as a fake, opaque 'block' of teeth. The difference is design and craft.

At Axis every veneer case begins with the Axis Method, so the shape and proportions are agreed on a trial smile before we prepare anything. Preparation is as minimal as the case allows — often little more than polishing — and each veneer is layered by our ceramist to carry the translucency and surface texture of a natural tooth.

Porcelain veneers — your questions

Do veneers ruin your teeth?

Modern minimal-prep veneers remove far less tooth structure than older techniques, and some cases need no drilling at all. We only recommend veneers where they are the right tool; often bonding or aligners are a more conservative fit, and we will tell you so.

How long do veneers last?

Well-made porcelain veneers commonly last 10–15 years and often longer with good hygiene and a nightguard if you grind. See our journal piece on making veneers last.

Will they look fake?

Not when they are designed to your face and layered for translucency. The trial-smile stage exists precisely so you approve a natural result before we build the final porcelain.
