Nadira leads the firm’s syariah practice and is the reason Yap & Nadira can honestly say civil and syariah family matters live under one roof. Dual-admitted — as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and as a Peguam Syarie in both the Federal Territories and Selangor — she moves between the two systems daily and knows exactly where they meet, and where they do not.
She joined Amelia in 2014 and became name partner the following year. Her practice covers the full range of Muslim family matters: cerai talaq and taklik, fasakh and khul’ applications, hadhanah (custody), nafkah (maintenance), mutaah and harta sepencarian claims, and cross-system questions such as conversion of a spouse during a civil marriage.
Clients describe her manner the same way colleagues do: unhurried, precise, and completely without judgment. Much of her work involves first-generation questions no one in the family has faced before, and she treats every one of them as worth explaining properly.
