Privacy notice (PDPA)
How we handle personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 — in the same plain language we use for everything else.
Who we are
Messrs Yap & Nadira (Advocates & Solicitors), 27-2 & 27-3, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. For anything in this notice: hello@yapnadira.com.my or +60 3-2202 8461.
What we collect
What you give us when you contact or engage us: identity and contact details, and — because of the nature of family law — information about your marriage, children, finances and safety. Sensitive personal data is processed only as needed for your matter and with the protections the PDPA and our professional duties require. This website itself sets no analytics or marketing cookies.
Why we process it
To respond when you contact us; to provide legal services under our retainer; to meet legal, court and regulatory obligations (including Bar Council rules and anti-money-laundering requirements); and to keep proper records of the firm’s work.
Who sees it
The lawyers and staff working on your matter, under strict confidentiality; courts and authorities where proceedings require; third parties you authorise (for example, valuers or the other side’s solicitors in disclosure); and our IT and storage providers under confidentiality obligations. We do not sell or trade personal data — ever, to anyone.
How long we keep it
Client files are retained for seven years after a matter closes, then confidentially destroyed, unless law or your instructions require otherwise. Enquiry records from people who do not become clients are kept no longer than twelve months.
Your rights
You may request access to and correction of your personal data, and withdraw consent to processing that is not required for legal or professional obligations. Write to hello@yapnadira.com.my with “PDPA request” in the subject; we respond within 21 days.
WhatsApp and third-party channels
If you contact us by WhatsApp or similar services, their own privacy terms also apply to the transmission. For anything you prefer not to send through such channels, call us or visit — we will never insist on a channel you are not comfortable with.
