Crowns & Restorations
When a tooth is cracked, worn or held together by old fillings, it needs rebuilding rather than refining. A modern ceramic crown or onlay restores its strength and returns it to the smile invisibly.
Strength that looks like nothing
Today’s bonded ceramics are strong enough to rebuild a back tooth and beautiful enough to sit at the front. We match shade and translucency to the teeth around it, so a rebuilt tooth simply disappears.
Conservative by preference
Where an onlay can save more tooth than a full crown, we do the onlay. The aim is always to keep as much of your own tooth as the situation honestly allows.
Made, not milled to a flat shade
Front-tooth crowns are crafted by our ceramist so they carry the same depth as our veneers — no grey line at the gum, no flat chalky white.

How the process runs
- 01Assessment
We check what the tooth needs beneath the surface before restoring it.
- 02Preparation
Conservative shaping and a precise scan or impression.
- 03Craft
A ceramist builds the crown or onlay to match its neighbours.
- 04Fit & review
Bonded, adjusted for a comfortable bite, and reviewed.
About crowns & restorations
Crown or veneer — what is the difference?
A veneer covers the front of a tooth for looks; a crown wraps a weakened tooth for strength. We use whichever the tooth needs, and always the more conservative option where it will hold.
Will there be a dark line at the gum?
Not with our metal-free bonded ceramics. That grey line came from older metal-cored crowns, which we do not place at the front.
How long do crowns last?
Well-made ceramic restorations commonly last 10–15 years or more with good hygiene, and carry our 5-year guarantee.
