How much does a consultation cost?
An aesthetic doctor consultation is RM 60, and it’s waived if you proceed with any treatment at the same visit. GP consultations range from RM 40–80 depending on complexity, before medication. You’ll always be told the full cost of any recommended plan — in writing — before anything is done.
Do treatments hurt?
It depends on the treatment. Most lasers feel like warm pinpricks and need no numbing. Injectables and HIFU are more uncomfortable — we use topical numbing cream (included in our prices, never an add-on) and will tell you honestly what to expect. If a doctor says a treatment is "painless", ask them what they’re selling.
How much downtime should I plan for?
Lunch-break treatments (medical facials, skin boosters, most pico laser sessions) leave you slightly pink for a few hours. Fractional CO2 laser and deeper peels need 5–7 days of visible recovery. Every treatment page on this site lists its realistic downtime — and your doctor will confirm it for your skin before you commit.
Who actually performs my treatment?
All injectables, lasers and medical devices are operated by our doctors — every aesthetic physician at Avelia holds the LCP (Letter of Credentialing and Privileging in Aesthetic Medicine) issued by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Therapists perform facials and assist with laser hair removal under doctor supervision. You can see each doctor’s MMC registration number on our About page.
Is Klinik Avelia a registered medical clinic?
Yes. Every branch is licensed under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 (Act 586) and our advertising is approved under KKLIU 2419/2026. We are a medical clinic first — the same premises run GP services, screenings and vaccinations.
Why don’t you show before-and-after photos?
Malaysian medical advertising guidelines restrict before/after imagery in promotions, and honestly, we think that’s right — such photos are easily cherry-picked or edited. During your consultation, your doctor will show you anonymised outcome records of real Avelia patients with skin similar to yours, and give you our measured outcome data for the treatment you’re considering.
Will I be pressured to buy a package?
No — and this is policy, not a slogan. Our doctors are salaried with no commission on sales. Packages exist because multi-session pricing is genuinely cheaper, but single sessions are always available at the listed price, and we’ll never quote a package before you’ve had one session to judge for yourself.
Is there a booking deposit?
Treatment appointments are held with a RM50 deposit, which is fully applied to your bill. It’s refundable if you reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours ahead. Consultation-only and GP visits need no deposit.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, all major credit/debit cards, Touch ’n Go eWallet, DuitNow QR, and 0% instalment plans over 6 or 12 months (Maybank, CIMB and Public Bank cards) for treatments above RM1,500.
Can I claim GP visits under my company panel or insurance?
Our Pulau Tikus, Bayan Baru, Bukit Mertajam, Damansara Uptown and Puchong clinics are panel clinics for 60+ employers and TPAs including major insurers. Bring your staff ID or panel card. Aesthetic treatments are not panel-claimable.
Are treatments safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Most energy-based treatments and all injectables are deferred during pregnancy as a precaution. Breastfeeding mothers have more options — medical facials and certain peels are fine. Tell us at booking and the doctor will plan around it; we’ll never treat first and ask later.
Do you treat men?
About a quarter of our patients are men — mostly for acne, acne scars, hair loss and pigmentation. Same doctors, same rooms, same prices.
What if I’m unhappy with my care?
Email care@klinikavelia.my and our Clinical Standards team (led by Dr. Marcus Tan) responds within 2 working days. If we can’t resolve your concern, we’ll direct you to the Ministry of Health’s complaint channels — you’ll never have to find them on your own.
Do I need an appointment for the GP clinic?
No — GP services are walk-in at all branches except Bangsar and Mount Austin (appointment only). Aesthetic consultations are by appointment so the doctor can give you unhurried time.
