Founder & Director
Marcus Harlowe
Accredited Specialist (Criminal Law), QLS
“The prosecution has to prove every element beyond reasonable doubt. My job is to make them do it — and to hold them to it at every step.”
About Marcus
Marcus founded Harlowe Vane in 2008 after seven years as a prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Having built and run the Crown case in hundreds of matters, he knows exactly how the prosecution thinks — where a brief is strong, and where it is quietly hoping you will not look.
He is one of a small number of Queensland solicitors accredited as a specialist in criminal law, and he leads the firm's most serious indictable work: murder and manslaughter, serious violence, and complex trials in the District and Supreme Courts. He also appears in the Court of Appeal.
Colleagues describe his style as unhurried and relentless. He is the person clients want across the table from them when the stakes could not be higher — calm under pressure, meticulous in preparation, and direct about what is really at risk.
How Marcus works with clients
- Takes personal carriage of the most serious matters from the first conference.
- Tells you the honest position early, even when it is not what you hoped to hear.
- Prepares every trial as if it will run, which is often why it does not have to.
