About us
One office on Montpellier Parade. Twenty-two years of keys.
Independent since 2004 — no franchise, no call centre, no valuation inflated to win a signature.
The story
Why Andrew left the chain
Andrew Ellcott spent the late nineties valuing houses for a national chain in Leeds, where the monthly targets rewarded the flattering figure over the accurate one. In 2004 he took a lease on 31 Montpellier Parade, hung six properties in the window, and wrote three rules on the first page of the day book: value honestly, publish the fee, answer the phone.
Louise Mayne arrived in 2007 to build the lettings side — eleven managed homes then, 268 now. The rules haven’t changed; the day book is on its twenty-third volume.
Today the register runs from one-bed conversions on Valley Drive to farmhouses at the top of Nidderdale. What hasn’t changed is the shape of the firm: one office, eight people, and directors who still do the valuations.
