Root canal treatment
Save a tooth instead of losing it.
When decay or a crack reaches the nerve inside a tooth, the result is often severe pain or an abscess. Root canal treatment removes the infected nerve, disinfects the inside of the tooth and seals it — so you keep the tooth rather than having it out.
What it costs
Root canal from RM600 (front tooth) to RM1,500 (molar). A crown afterwards is usually recommended and quoted separately.
Is it as bad as its reputation?
No. With modern techniques and proper numbing, having a root canal feels much like having a large filling. In fact it relieves the pain you came in with. Dr. Chloe Ng has a special interest in root canal treatment and takes the time to do it thoroughly.
What happens afterwards
A root-treated back tooth becomes brittle and is usually protected with a crown so it does not fracture. We will explain whether a crown is needed and what it costs before we start.
Common questions
How many visits does it take?
Often one or two, depending on the tooth and whether there is active infection. We will give you a clear plan at the assessment.
