Porcelain veneers
Hand-layered ceramic shells that reshape colour, form and proportion — designed around your face, not a template.

What they are
A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom-made shell of dental ceramic bonded to the front of a tooth. Because porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, a well-made veneer disappears into the smile rather than announcing itself. We use them to correct shade, close small gaps, even out worn or chipped edges, and refine the shape of teeth that are healthy but not quite right.
Who they suit
Veneers suit adults with healthy teeth and gums who want a lasting cosmetic change. They are not the answer to every problem — crowding is usually better treated with aligners first, and heavily broken-down teeth may need crowns. At your consultation Dr. Rachel Ong will tell you honestly whether veneers are the right tool, or whether a smaller, cheaper change would get you most of the way there.
How we do it
- Design first. We scan and photograph your smile and plan the result digitally, so you approve the shape before any tooth is touched.
- Trial smile. Where useful, we mock the design up in your mouth so you can see and feel it.
- Minimal preparation. Only a fraction of a millimetre of enamel is adjusted — sometimes none at all — and precise scans are taken.
- Fit & refine. Your veneers are bonded, the bite checked, and edges polished at a final review.
What to expect
Preparation is done under local anaesthetic and is comfortable. Between visits you wear natural-looking temporaries. Once bonded, veneers feel like your own teeth within a few days. Some short-lived sensitivity to cold is normal and settles.
How long they last
With good care, porcelain veneers commonly last 10–15 years and often longer. They do not decay, but the tooth beneath still can, so hygiene visits matter. We provide a thin night guard for grinders to protect the investment.
Common questions
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
No. Modern veneers are minimal-prep, removing only a sliver of enamel — and sometimes none. The concern comes from older, aggressive techniques we do not use.
How many veneers will I need?
It depends on how wide your smile shows when you talk and laugh. Many people need 6–8 on the upper front teeth for an even result; some need only 2. We plan to the smallest number that looks natural.
