PDPA 2010

Personal Data Protection Notice

Issued under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010. Last revised June 2026.

1. Who we are

Faiza Loke & Sivam (Advocates & Solicitors) of Suite A-19-3A, Menara UOA Bangsar, No. 5 Jalan Bangsar Utama 1, 59000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia processes personal data as a legal practice regulated by the Malaysian Bar. This notice is issued in English and Bahasa Malaysia; the Bahasa Malaysia version is available on request at enquiries@flschambers.my.

2. What we collect

Enquiry data (name, contact details, the situation you describe), engagement data (identity documents, employment records, payslips, correspondence and other matter documents), billing data, and website data limited to server logs. Our online tools — the termination letter check and severance calculator — run entirely in your browser; the details you enter there are not transmitted to us unless you choose to send them by WhatsApp.

3. Why we process it

To run conflict checks, provide legal services under an engagement, meet obligations under the Legal Profession Act 1976 and anti-money-laundering rules, bill and collect fees, and respond to enquiries. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use client data for marketing without separate consent.

4. Disclosure

Data is disclosed only as the engagement requires — courts, tribunals, opposing counsel, expert witnesses and process servers — or as law compels. Storage and IT providers act under confidentiality obligations. Solicitor-client privilege operates alongside, and above, this notice for matter communications.

5. Retention and security

Matter files are retained for a minimum of seven years after closure per Bar practice guidance, then securely destroyed. Enquiry data from persons who do not engage us is deleted within twelve months of the last contact, conflict-check records excepted.

6. Your rights

You may request access to and correction of your personal data, withdraw consent to processing (subject to legal and professional retention duties), and limit marketing contact, by writing to enquiries@flschambers.my marked "PDPA Request". We respond within twenty-one days.
