The first hundred and twenty days
New-leader transitions
For a leader arriving in a seat — promoted, hired in, or handed a business after somebody left badly. Eight sessions, an entry plan, and a 90-day stakeholder pulse.
What it includes
- A pre-start session, ideally before day one
- A written entry plan: what you will learn, from whom, by when, and what you will deliberately not change yet
- A designed listening tour — who to see, in what order, and what to ask
- Eight fortnightly sessions across four months
- A 90-day stakeholder pulse: six short structured conversations about how the arrival has actually landed
- A close-out session that converts the plan into an operating rhythm you keep
Most new leaders change something too early
Usually in week three, usually something visible, usually because the pressure to demonstrate is enormous and the information is thin. It is almost always paid for in month seven.
The entry plan exists to make the waiting deliberate rather than passive: here is what I am learning, here is when I will decide, here is the one thing I am changing now and why.
The 90-day pulse
At day ninety we run six short conversations with people around the seat: what has this arrival been like, what is clearer, what is less clear, what are people still waiting to see. Themed, de-identified, back to the leader within a week.
It is the cheapest course correction available and almost nobody does it.
Who it is for
- A leader starting in the next six weeks, or three weeks into the job and already behind
- An internal promotion who now manages former peers
- Someone taking a seat where the predecessor is still spoken of fondly — or bitterly
Who it is not for
- Onboarding logistics. We do not do systems access, benefits or org charts.
- A leader more than six months in. At that point it is not a transition, it is a job, and executive coaching is the right shape.

Questions people ask about new-leader transitions
Can we start before my first day?
We prefer it. The most useful single session in this engagement is usually the one two weeks before you start.
Is this different from executive coaching?
Shorter, more structured, and organised around a calendar rather than a behaviour ledger. Some leaders roll into a full engagement afterwards at the difference in fee.
My predecessor was removed. Does that change anything?
Considerably, and we will design the listening tour around it. Anders runs most of these.
