Principal Cosmetic Dentist · Co-founder
Dr Mara Ellison
Mara founded Auvera on a simple discipline: design every smile in natural daylight, photograph it honestly, and let the work carry the argument. She has led more than 480 full smile designs and lectures on minimal-preparation veneers.
In their own words
What do patients get wrong about veneers?
“That whiter is the goal. The goal is believable — shade, shape and proportion that suit your face at fifty, not just your feed at thirty.”
Why the in-house lab?
“Because the ceramist should meet the person, not a model number. Sofia sees how you laugh before she layers a single porcelain coat.”
Background
Mara graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne and spent a decade in restorative practice before dedicating herself entirely to cosmetic dentistry. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and one of a small number of Australian dentists holding Accredited Membership of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry — a credential earned by submitting real, unretouched clinical cases for blinded examination, which may explain her feelings about photography.
She has led more than 480 complete smile designs at Auvera, lectures on minimal-preparation veneer technique, and still books Saturday mornings because, in her words, “that’s when the nervous ones come.”
