Professional whitening is chemistry, timing and realistic expectations. We supervise all three — and we will tell you when whitening alone won’t get you there.
In-chair whitening ($895) uses a higher-concentration peroxide gel with your gums professionally isolated — most patients lift 4–6 shades in a 90-minute appointment, then stabilise the result with the custom take-home trays included in the fee. Take-home alone ($545) reaches a similar endpoint over two weeks of nightly wear, gentler on sensitive teeth.
Both are dentist-supervised, which is the entire difference between us and a shopping-strip whitening bar: we check your enamel, existing restorations and gum health first, because peroxide on an undiagnosed cavity is a memorable mistake.
Whitening does not change the colour of veneers, crowns or bonding — whiten first, then match new restorations to the result. Deep tetracycline banding and single dark (root-treated) teeth respond poorly and usually need porcelain or internal bleaching instead. If that is your case, we will say so at the consultation rather than sell you a course that will disappoint you.
Dentist-supervised peroxide whitening does not soften or thin enamel. Temporary sensitivity for 24–48 hours is common and manageable.
12–24 months depending on coffee, tea and red wine. Top-ups with your custom trays cost only the gel.
Unsupervised whitening on undiagnosed decay, cracked teeth or unhealthy gums causes real harm — and non-dental operators in Australia are limited to concentrations that barely move the needle.
