Neil Garside
Grew a Bolton corrugated-packaging manufacturer to £8.4m and sold it in 2010. Founded Fellside two years later because every coach he’d met talked theory.
THE OPERATOR YEARS
Neil spent nineteen years running Garside Packaging in Bolton — the last eleven as managing director — taking it from a £900k jobbing converter to an £8.4m business with 63 staff before selling to a trade buyer in 2010.
He retrained deliberately: an ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive Coaching and Mentoring, then EMCC accreditation, now held at Senior Practitioner level. Fellside opened in a single room on Jersey Street in 2012 with three clients, all manufacturers.
Neil still coaches a full caseload and chairs two of the three Boardroom groups. His sessions are famous for one question, asked early and often: “What does the gross margin on that actually look like?”
