What a health check is for
A health check gives you a baseline. It measures the things that drift quietly for years — blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, thyroid, kidney and liver function — and it puts a number on your risk while there is still time to change it.
Every test in every package is listed with its individual price, so you can see exactly what the package saves. If buying the tests separately would be cheaper for you, we say so.

What each check costs against buying the tests separately
Prices differ slightly for women and men because the sex-specific tests differ. Savings are worked out against our own published price for each test.

Every check includes a GP review, a written report and a follow-up call. We price that separately at £110 because it is a real cost, not a free extra.

What a health check cannot do
- It is not a cancer test. A normal health check does not rule out cancer, and no blood panel does. If you have a symptom that worries you, book an appointment about that symptom instead — it is a better use of your money.
- Some abnormal results are false alarms. Test enough healthy people and a proportion will have a number slightly outside the range that means nothing. That is why a doctor reads them in context rather than a portal flagging them red.
- A normal result today is not a guarantee for the year. It is a baseline. Its real value shows up the second time you do it.
- We will occasionally tell you that a test you have asked for is not worth doing, and take it out of the basket. Female hormone profiles over 45 are the usual example.
FAQs
Health checks: common questions
Do I need to fast?
Only if your panel includes cholesterol or glucose. That means ten hours without food, though water and black coffee are fine. The builder above tells you. We run appointments from 07:30 so you can come before work.
When do I get the results?
Most results come back within 48 hours. The written report follows within five working days and a GP phones you to go through it. Anything abnormal gets a call sooner.
Will you tell me if a test is not worth doing?
Yes, and we do it often. Female hormone profiles over 45 are the usual example. If you have paid for a check that includes one we would not recommend, we take it out and refund the difference.
Is this a cancer screen?
No. No blood panel is. A health check can raise questions worth following up, and the Advanced check includes bowel screening, but a normal result does not rule cancer out. If you have a symptom that worries you, book an appointment about that symptom instead.
Can I claim on insurance?
Usually not. Most policies cover investigation of symptoms rather than checks on well people. Ask your insurer, and assume self-pay unless they confirm otherwise.
