BookWhy patients choose us
Ravelston Health has been owned by the doctors who work here since 2013. Our clinicians are salaried, so nobody is paid more for ordering you a test.
Conditions
A few of the reasons people book. If yours is not here, phone reception and they will tell you honestly whether we are the right place.
Health checks
Three health checks with every test listed and priced. A doctor reads your results and phones you to explain them.

How it works
There is no registration and no joining fee. You do not have to leave your NHS practice.
Choose a time on our booking page, or phone reception from 07:30 on weekdays.
We email a four-minute history form. It is optional, and it gives you back ten minutes of your appointment.
Thirty minutes with a GP, or forty-five for your first visit. Blood tests are taken upstairs the same day.
A written summary the same day. Test results in about 48 hours, with a phone call if anything is abnormal.

★★★★★
“Phoned at eight on a Tuesday about my son's ear and we were seen at half nine. Dr Reid took her time, explained why she was not giving antibiotics, and wrote down exactly what to watch for. He was fine by Thursday.”
★★★★★
“I had been told for two years that my bloods were normal. Dr Wysocki went back through them, spotted the trend rather than the single number, and started me on a proper plan. My HbA1c is back in the normal range.”
★★★★★
“The physio gym downstairs is the real thing, not a couch in a cupboard. Ewan watched me run on the treadmill for ten minutes before he touched me. Four sessions and I was back on the Pentlands.”
For employers
We look after around forty local employers, most of them between fifteen and three hundred people. Management referrals, pre-placement assessments, workplace flu clinics and team health checks.
You get one named clinician and one named administrator. Referral reports come back within five working days.
Advice
Plain answers to the questions we are asked most often in appointments.
The honest version, including the things we will send you back to the NHS for and the things we simply cannot offer.
A first-pass panel finds most of the treatable causes. Everything beyond it mostly generates false alarms.
Over 45, hormone levels are usually the wrong test. The diagnosis is a pattern, and the pattern is recognisable.
FAQs
No, and almost nobody does. Most of our patients keep their NHS practice and use us when they need to be seen quickly, need longer than ten minutes, or want a test arranged this month rather than next season. With your consent we write to your NHS GP after appointments so your NHS record stays complete.
Ninety-six per cent of routine requests are seen within five working days, and we hold appointments back every weekday for same-day problems. Rather than ask you to take that on trust, the Same-Week Board on this page shows what is genuinely free for the next fortnight.
No. There is no joining fee, no annual charge, and no need to be a member to book anything. Ravelston Care membership exists and suits people who use us regularly, but it is entirely optional and the price list applies either way.
We can invoice Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality and WPA among others. You need to contact your insurer first, confirm what your policy covers, and get a pre-authorisation code. Some policies do not cover GP appointments at all but do cover the physiotherapy and diagnostics that follow.
No. We are not an emergency service and we do not have emergency facilities. Chest pain, breathlessness at rest, stroke symptoms, severe bleeding or a very unwell child means 999, or NHS 24 on 111 when your practice is closed. We will tell you plainly if you have come to the wrong place.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland regulates independent clinics in Scotland — the Care Quality Commission you may have read about covers England only. We are registered as service IS-3184 and were last inspected in March 2026. Our doctors are on the GMC register, nurses on the NMC register and physiotherapists on the HCPC register, and every registration number is published on their profile.
Yes. Dr Hannah Reid holds the Diploma in Child Health and sees most of our under-16s, and we book under-2s a longer appointment at the standard price. Every member of staff here who works with children is a member of the PVG scheme.
There is metered on-street parking on Ravelston Terrace and the surrounding streets, and it is usually findable outside peak hours. We are a ten-minute walk from Haymarket and several bus routes stop on Queensferry Road. Full directions are on the contact page.
Most appointments are available within five working days. Book online or call us.
