Minor surgery

Lumps, cysts and skin lesions removed under local anaesthetic. Histology included.

First floor · from £340

Dr Callum Braid runs the minor surgery list in the first-floor treatment room: skin lesion excision, sebaceous cysts, lipomas, ingrowing toenails, and joint injections.

Everything we remove goes for histology. That is not optional here and it is not an extra — a lesion removed without histology is a lesion nobody has actually diagnosed.

You are seen first for an assessment appointment. Some things we should not do here, and it is better to hear that at the assessment than on the table.

From £340 for a single site, including local anaesthetic, histology and the wound check.

FAQs

Minor surgery: common questions

Will it scar?

Yes — any excision leaves a scar. On the face and on the chest and shoulders in particular we will discuss that carefully, and sometimes advise a plastic surgeon instead.

What if the histology is abnormal?

Dr Braid phones you, and we arrange onward referral the same week. We do not send abnormal histology by letter.

Do you remove skin tags and other cosmetic lesions?

Yes, but they are not a medical service, so they are charged with VAT at 20% — this is set out on the fees page.

Do you do joint injections?

Yes, for shoulders, knees and some smaller joints, usually after physiotherapy assessment rather than instead of it.
