Dr Priya Anand leads this service. She fits and removes coils and implants, runs cervical screening, and takes the referrals from the rest of the practice when a hormonal picture is complicated.
A lot of what she sees has been dismissed somewhere else: periods described as "normal for you", pain described as "part of it", a coil fitting that was rushed. Appointments here are long enough to examine properly and to talk about what is actually bothering you.

What happens
Talk first
A 30-minute appointment to work out what is going on and what you want to do about it.
Investigate
Bloods on site, swabs on site, ultrasound arranged locally with the cost quoted first.
Treat
Fittings are booked as a separate longer appointment so nothing is hurried.
Check
Coils are checked at six weeks. Any change in symptoms and you come back — that visit is included.

Priya leads our women's health service and holds the Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care. She runs the menopause clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and takes referrals from the other GPs here when a hormonal picture is complicated.
FAQs
Women's health: common questions
Can I have a coil fitted if I have never had children?
Yes. It is a common misconception that you cannot. Fitting can be more uncomfortable, and Dr Anand will discuss pain relief options with you beforehand rather than after.
Do you offer pain relief for coil fittings?
Yes — local anaesthetic is offered as standard, not on request. You can also take simple analgesia an hour before.
Is cervical screening the same as the NHS programme?
The test is the same and goes to the same kind of accredited laboratory. It does not replace your NHS screening invitation, and we will tell you where you sit in the national schedule.
