Weight and metabolic health
A programme for prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, cholesterol and weight. Monthly reviews for six months.
Ground floor · from £190
Dr Tomasz Wysocki runs the metabolic clinic. It exists for the people whose fasting glucose has been creeping up for four years, whose blood pressure has been "borderline" since 2019, and whose liver enzymes nobody has ever explained.
The clinic covers prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, and weight where it is driving those things. It is a programme rather than an appointment: monthly review for the first six months, because that is what actually moves numbers.
Weight-management medication is prescribed where the clinical criteria are met, alongside monitoring and review. We do not prescribe it as a standalone product, and we will say no if the criteria are not met.
First appointment 45 minutes · £190 including bloods. Monthly review · £95.

Who you will see
Dr Elspeth Rankin
Founder & Clinical Director, GP · GMC 4718203
Elspeth trained in Edinburgh and spent eleven years as a partner in an NHS Lothian practice in the north of the city before opening Ravelston Health in 2013. She started it for a simple reason: she was tired of ten-minute appointments and of telling people the wait for a scan would be measured in months.

FAQs
Weight & metabolic health: common questions
Will you prescribe weight-loss injections?
Where the clinical criteria are met and with proper monitoring, yes. Not on their own, not without review appointments, and not if the criteria are not met. If you want a prescription with no follow-up, we are the wrong clinic.
Can prediabetes be reversed?
Frequently, yes. A meaningful proportion of people with raised HbA1c return to the normal range with sustained change, and the earlier it is caught the better that works.
Do you offer dietetic support?
We work with an independent dietitian who consults here on Wednesdays; that is charged separately at £90 for the first session.
