Elspeth trained in Edinburgh and spent eleven years as a partner in an NHS Lothian practice in the north of the city before opening Ravelston Health in 2013. She started it for a simple reason: she was tired of ten-minute appointments and of telling people the wait for a scan would be measured in months.
Her clinical interest is in long-term conditions — the unglamorous work of keeping blood pressure, cholesterol and thyroid function steady over decades. She sees a lot of people who have been told their bloods are "normal" and still feel unwell, and she is patient about working out why.
As Clinical Director she chairs the practice's clinical governance meeting, signs off every significant-event review, and is the responsible person for our registration with Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
