Tracking Pixel Checker: See Which Tags Fire

Seed Light built this free tracking pixel checker to scan the HTML a website returns and show which common tracking tags appear in that source, along with the IDs it can detect.

Scan a page for common tracking tags such as Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and Hotjar.

We show the IDs we can detect and flag possible duplicate references. Tags loaded later through JavaScript, consent or user interaction may not appear.

Free to use, with no sign up. The address and result may stay in our server cache for up to ten minutes.

The method

What the checker looks at

  1. 01

We fetch the HTML returned by the URL

The checker requests the public page and inspects the source returned by the server. It does not run the page like a full browser session. Nothing is saved and nothing is shared.

  2. 02

    We look for known tags

We search that source for the fingerprints of the common marketing tags: Google Analytics, Tag Manager, the Meta Pixel, Google Ads, TikTok, Hotjar, Clarity and the LinkedIn tag.

  3. 03

    We pull out the ID

Where a tag carries an account or container ID, we show it. That lets you match what is in the source against the accounts you own, and spot one that belongs to an old agency.

  4. 04

We explain what the source scan cannot see

A tag that a consent banner loads after someone clicks accept, or one injected later by another script, stays invisible to a source scan, so we mark it as not found in the source rather than missing.

Common questions

Common questions about what this check can and cannot tell you.

The tracker may load only after JavaScript runs, consent is given or another tag fires. This checker reads the HTML returned by the server, so a tag missing from the report may still load later in a browser session.

A duplicate implementation can cause duplicate events or distorted attribution. Two references in the source do not prove that the same event fires twice, so the references need checking before you treat them as evidence of duplicate tracking.

No, a pixel is only worth having for a platform you advertise on. If you do not run TikTok ads, a TikTok pixel adds weight to your pages and gives you nothing back.

Once you carry three or more tags, usually yes. A tag manager keeps them in one container, so adding a pixel or switching one off takes a few clicks rather than a developer.

Yes, each ID we report is already public, because a browser has to read it to load the tag at all. Anyone can view the source of your pages and see the same values.
