Common problems

Why some logos stop working

Five common problems we see again and again. Every one of them is fixed in the versions and the files.

A shop sign print proof where the logo is visibly pixelated, the blur outlined in red with a label reading 72 px PNG
Reason 01

The logo came as one small PNG and pixelates on the sign.

An embroidery digitising preview where the logo's thin lines drop out, the missing strokes circled in red
Reason 02

Fine lines in the logo vanish when it is stitched on a shirt.

A stock icon marketplace page showing one icon under three different fictional business names, each match flagged in red
Reason 03

The icon was bought from a stock site and belongs to nobody.

A one-colour print proof where the logo fills in to a smudge beside the clean full-colour logo, the smudge circled in red
Reason 04

No one-colour version exists, so the stamp prints as a smudge.

Three blue swatches labelled sign, card and website with three different colour codes, the mismatch marked in red
Reason 05

Nobody knows which shade of blue the logo actually is.

Where we start

Fix the biggest problem first

We prioritise the issues most likely to affect leads, sales or wasted time instead of trying to change everything at once.

Straight answers

Common questions

What owners ask before paying for a logo. Answered plainly.

A logo is enough when you need a logo to open with: a sign, a name card, a profile picture and a website header. A full identity adds colours, fonts, photo style and written guidelines, which matters once several people make things for the business. A new business often starts with the logo and adds the system later.

Yes. A logo people already know is worth keeping. We rebuild it in vector, fix the spacing and the thin lines, draw the missing versions and write down the colour codes. Replacing a known logo is a rebranding job, and we say so when that is the right call.

Two or three, each shown on a sign, a name card and a phone screen rather than on a white page. You pick one direction and we refine it. A sheet of twenty sketches looks generous and makes the choice harder, so we do not work that way.

Research, a written direction, two or three concepts shown on real uses, one chosen logo refined, and the files in every format. You also get the logo in its variants, a colour sheet and a one-page usage sheet, so the logo is usable on the day it lands.

The quote depends on how many concepts you want to see, how many versions and applications we set up, and whether print items such as name cards and signs are part of the job. We scope it on a call and send an itemised quote. The pricing page explains how a quote is built.

Around three to four weeks. The first week is research and direction, the second is concepts, and the rest is refinement and building the versions and files. A logo with name cards and a sign to set up takes a little longer, since print proofs need time.

A logo is one logo and the files that carry it. Branding is the whole system the logo sits in: colours, fonts, photo style, tone of writing and the guidelines that hold them together. This page covers the logo. Our branding service builds the system around it when you need one.

Yes. Every concept is checked at favicon size, as a round profile picture, stitched on a shirt and on a sign seen from across the road before you see it. Simplified and one-colour versions are drawn for the small and rough uses, so the same logo reads everywhere.

Vector files in AI, EPS and SVG for printers and sign makers, PNG with transparent backgrounds for the web and documents, and PDF for anyone who needs a quick look. Each version comes in full colour, black, white and one-colour, named by use so the right file is easy to find.

Yes. Once the project is paid for, the logo, the artwork and the working files are yours outright. We do not use stock icons or template logos, so nothing in the logo belongs to a third party. You can take the files to any printer or designer later.

Yes. Name cards, labels, stamps, letterheads and shop signs are set up from the logo as print-ready files with bleed and the right colour mode. We speak to your printer or sign maker directly when a job needs it, and check a proof before anything is produced.

Website work is a separate service. Logo design hands over the header, favicon and profile versions a website needs, and our web design service builds the site from them. Clients who want both usually run them in sequence so the site launches with the finished logo.

A short call about the business, who buys from you and where the logo will appear. After that we ask for the business name as it should read, any existing logo files, a few logos you like and dislike, and photos of the sign or products it will go on. Research starts from there.

Clients most often add Rebranding, a new website, social media marketing and e-commerce web design. Each has its own page, and any of them can start on the same call.
