Website Speed Checker: Find What Is Slowing Your Website Down

Seed Light built this free website speed checker so you can paste any address and see how fast your pages load, what is slowing them down, and what to fix first.

Run a mobile PageSpeed test and see the score, the key metrics and the biggest opportunities.

Takes about thirty seconds. We test one page at a time.

Free to use, with no sign up. The address and result may stay in our server cache for up to ten minutes. Speed checks use Google PageSpeed Insights.

The method

What the checker looks at

  1. 01

    Google runs the test

We send your address to Google PageSpeed Insights, the same free service Google publishes for anyone to use. The result you see is Google's own, in plain words.

  2. 02

The mobile lab test uses controlled conditions

Lighthouse uses a simulated mobile environment and throttling so runs can be compared. It does not represent every visitor's real device, location or connection.

  3. 03

We time the moments people notice

When the screen stops being blank, when the main image lands, how long the page ignores a tap, and how long it keeps shifting about while someone reads.

  4. 04

    Then it lists the opportunities

PageSpeed Insights identifies potential improvements and may provide estimated savings for some diagnostics. Treat those estimates as priorities to investigate, not guaranteed seconds saved.

Common questions

Common questions about what this check can and cannot tell you.

Each speed tool uses its own test device, connection speed and location. A score is meaningful only in relation to the test that produced it, so compare results with the conditions used by each tool in view.

Your own browser may show a faster result due to your connection, location and saved files. You may be near the server, while images and fonts from an earlier visit are already stored in your browser.

Start with the issue the report says has the greatest effect. Common causes include oversized images, heavy scripts, slow servers, fonts and third-party widgets.

No. A website speed test measures the URL entered. Test representative page types, such as the home page, a service page and a product or article page. Their images, scripts and layouts can produce different results.

Website speed affects how long people wait before the page is usable, and slower pages are widely associated with more visitors leaving before they see anything.
