About the role
Clients leave agencies that do good work more often than people expect, usually because nobody explained what was happening. This role exists so that does not happen here.
You hold a group of accounts: you know what each business is trying to do this year, you speak to them regularly, and you translate between what they ask for and what they actually need.
Responsibilities
- Hold the relationship with a group of clients, and know their business properly
- Run the regular calls, and send what was agreed in writing afterwards
- Turn a vague request into a brief the team can act on
- Spot the work a client needs before they think to ask for it
- Handle it directly when something has gone wrong, rather than going quiet
Requirements
- You have held client relationships and kept them through a bad month
- You write clearly and quickly, because most of this is written
- You understand marketing well enough to add judgement rather than relay messages
- You can say no to a request that is outside what was scoped
- You are honest with clients when the news is not good
Useful, not required
- You have worked agency side and know how briefs go wrong
- You have grown an account by spotting a real need rather than upselling
- You are comfortable presenting numbers you did not produce yourself
Tools
Notion or similar, Google Workspace, Looker Studio, WhatsApp Business, Calendly. The licences and subscriptions the job needs are paid for, and knowing every one of these already is not expected.
Your first three months
- Month 1. You take three accounts, learn their history and sit in every call.
- Month 2. You run those relationships yourself, including the reporting conversation.
- Month 3. You hold a group of accounts and shape what gets proposed on them.
