About the role

Clients book a photo shoot when their own pictures are not good enough for a website, an advert or a social feed. The photographer goes to the premises, shoots to an agreed shot list and hands over edited files.

The work is commercial: products on a clean background, a clinic or shop interior, a team portrait for an about page. The measure is whether the picture works where it is used, often on a phone at small size.

There is no application window on this role. It is open until it is filled.

People in this role work on Seed Light's Social Media Marketing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Shoot products, food, interiors and team portraits at client premises
  • Work from a shot list agreed with the client before the day
  • Light small spaces so products and rooms look true to life
  • Edit and colour-correct the selects, then export sizes for web, ads and social
  • Hand over files named and organised so they can be found again

Requirements

  • A portfolio of commercial work we can look at
  • Your own camera, lenses and basic lighting
  • You can travel to shoots in Penang or Kuala Lumpur
  • You work to a shot list and finish on time
  • You edit your own selects to a consistent look

Nice to have

  • You have shot food or products for online stores
  • You have shot for adverts and seen how the images performed
  • You can also film short video clips on the same shoot

Tools

Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, Google Drive. The licences and subscriptions the job needs are paid for, and knowing every one of these already is not expected.

Your first three months

  • Month 1. A first shoot with a shot list prepared for you, with feedback on the edited set.
  • Month 2. Regular shoots for clients in your city, planned with the account team.
  • Month 3. You help plan shot lists with clients, so each shoot covers what the website and ads need.

No, the role is part-time or freelance, paid per shoot. Shoots are booked when a client orders one, so the amount of work changes from month to month. Most shoots take half a day to a day, with editing afterwards.

Shoots take place at client premises in Penang and Kuala Lumpur. You reach the location yourself with your own equipment. The shot list and the time are agreed with you before the day, so you know what to bring.

Yes, you bring your own camera, lenses and basic lighting, and Seed Light does not supply equipment. What you own decides which shoots we can book you for, so list it clearly when you apply.

Yes, you edit and colour-correct your own selects and export them in the sizes we ask for. Heavy retouching is agreed separately when a shoot needs it. Finished files go into a shared folder, named so the team can find them.

Send a link to your portfolio with ten to fifteen commercial images, and say which ones you also edited. Product, food and interior work is more useful to see than weddings or events, since those are the shoots clients book.
