About the role

Clients book a video shoot when they need footage they cannot film themselves. The videographer films on location, then edits the footage into finished short videos.

Most of it is short and vertical: ads, Reels, a testimonial, a walkthrough of a shop or clinic. The video editor role is different: it works remotely on footage that clients send in.

There is no application window on this role. It is open until it is filled.

People in this role work on Seed Light's Social Media Marketing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Film short ads, Reels, testimonials and walkthroughs at client premises
  • Shoot vertical first, with clean sound and steady framing
  • Work from a shot list agreed with the client before the day
  • Edit with captions, cuts and pacing that hold attention on a muted phone
  • Cut several versions of one video so the hooks can be tested

Requirements

  • A reel of commercial work you both shot and edited
  • Your own camera, microphone and basic lighting
  • You can travel to shoots in Penang or Kuala Lumpur
  • You understand that the first second decides whether the rest is seen
  • You take edit notes without defending the first cut

Nice to have

  • You have made video that ran as paid advertising
  • You can do simple motion graphics and text animation
  • You can take good still photographs on the same shoot

Tools

Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, After Effects, Google Drive. The licences and subscriptions the job needs are paid for, and knowing every one of these already is not expected.

Your first three months

  • Month 1. A first shoot with a shot list prepared for you, with feedback on the edit.
  • Month 2. Regular shoots and edits for clients in your city, planned with the account team.
  • Month 3. You plan shoots with clients so each one produces several finished videos.
