Location
Remote, wherever you are
Experience
2+ years doing outreach that worked
Hours
9am to 5pm Malaysia time

About the role

Off-page work here is finding sites with a genuine reason to link to a client, and giving them one.

That means research, a lot of email, and the patience to keep going after being ignored. It also means saying no to link networks and paid placements that put a client at risk.

There is no closing date on this role. Applications are read in the order they come in.

People in this role work on Seed Light's SEO projects.

Responsibilities

  • Research sites, journalists and communities worth approaching, per client
  • Write outreach that gets opened and answered, one at a time
  • Build the assets worth linking to, with the content and design roles
  • Get clients into the directories and listings that actually carry weight
  • Track what landed, and drop the tactics that stopped working

Requirements

  • You have earned links you can point at, and can say how
  • You write short, human email rather than a template blast
  • You can judge whether a site is worth a link or a risk
  • You keep organised records, because outreach is a numbers game
  • You are comfortable being ignored most of the time

Nice to have

  • You have run a digital PR campaign that got picked up
  • You have worked with journalists or HARO-style request services
  • You have done outreach in more than one market

Tools

Ahrefs, Hunter or similar, Google Sheets, Email outreach tooling, Search Console. The licences and subscriptions the job needs are paid for, and knowing every one of these already is not expected.

Your first three months

  • Month 1. A backlink audit per account, and a target list built from it.
  • Month 2. First campaigns running, with the outreach written and tracked.
  • Month 3. You own off-page across the client base, and report what each link cost in effort.

Questions about this role

Questions candidates usually ask before applying. If yours is not here, add it to the message box on the form.

No, paid links and private networks put the client at risk for a result that does not hold, and clients here are not told a story about how their links were earned.

Outreach forms a good part of the link building role, but the research and the asset behind each pitch determine whether that outreach has a reason to work. Sending more email rarely fixes weak targeting, poor research or an asset that suitable sites would not mention.

Success in link building is measured through relevant links and mentions that a person would consider worth having, together with the rankings that follow. Bring a work example showing how you judged the value of an earned link or mention and assessed the resulting search performance.

There is no fixed response rate that makes outreach good. The useful measure is the number and relevance of links or mentions earned from suitable sites. Emails sent and replies received help diagnose the process, but they are not the final result.

Audit the backlink profile first. Google says most sites do not need the Disavow tool. It is mainly worth considering when there is a significant pattern of artificial links.

Yes, you write the pitch and often help shape the piece behind it. The role works with content writers to create something a worthwhile site would mention.
